One of my favorite topics of discussion is the Second World War and Hitler specifically. I agree with the theory you have chosen to represent Hitler's death, though there is some speculation that he also drank cyanide as well - the chicken-hearted leader. Bah.
Thanks. Very well-written!

Thank you for the kind review. Yes, many say he took cyanide before he shot himself.

If the first chapter is as intriguing as the second, you have a book I would definitely want to read. The characters seem real and plausible and the dialogue is natural. I am not an expert at critiquing books, but it has my vote! Keep up the good work.

Hi Barbara, this is great writing and I love the story. Yeah, it was a time full of fraught and God knows what really happened, with Hitler I mean.
"But you do have pull with many members ..." I would suggest; "But you do have great influence with many members..." You've just used 'pull' in the sentence above.
I'm really looking forward to reading on. All the best. Ulla:)))

Barbara, every post gets more interesting. Your reminder of the history of the Russian involvement in the war is good. Kristallnacht was a major event which took place at the beginning of the war. And again we are not certain what happened to Hitler. I am enjoying this story.

You did an amazing job of mixing in characters' actions while they were speaking. I felt like I could actually see this conversation take place. One suggestion I have is find a different way of Jane saying to Drew, "You're a really important man, and so is your family." It just sounds a bit odd. I feel that a person might say in more detail why someone is important. Example: you wouldn't say, "your dad is really important" if that person's dad was the POTUS. You would specify the importance rather than simply saying that they are important. Just a suggestion though. You're a much better writer than I am, but I just wanted to let you know that sentence stood out to me as something that could be said differently. Overall, this read very nicely.

There is still masses of valuable artefacts missing, I doubt some will ever be recovered, especially from the families that were totally wiped out by the German Nazis. It still makes me shudder to think how people could be so cruel to others. Your story is so authentic, Barbara, you are doing an amazing job with it. I can't wait for the next part. Excellent! :) Sandra x

I figured that was how the Russians got involved in this story of stolen art from the Holocaust victims. While this is a historical romance, I applaud you for retelling and weaving actual history into your narrative in an amazing way. You would be surprised how many people do not know about World War II and the Holocaust today. I found your telling fascinating. I once had a Jewish aunt who survived the Holocaust, but lost her family possessions, like so many Jews did. So I think of her when I read your story.
Thank you for sharing.

Interesting. I hadn't heard that story about Hitler's demise. So it makes sense that the Russians have the painting. Will the paper proof be enough to get it back, tho?
