Normal isn't always what it was before, but it sounds like a rather great normal. Thursday our 37-year-old son called that he had gone into the emergency room because he had fainted and came too with a terrific headache. By seven o'clock he was in the heart unit. By ten o'clock the next morning he had a stint installed on a blocked blood vein in his heart. Fortunately, his girlfriend is an RN, so we knew his constant phone calls made sense. I think you are very fortunate with your husband. God does listen, even when it seems too desperate to be a miracle.

Oh wow, Carol, it sounds like you and your son have experienced that same miracle. And at 37 years old. Who would have thought that's why we as feeling so bad? Good instincts to go in and get it checked out. You're right, God does listen, and He speaks. Sometimes, we actually listen to Him, and then the miracle can happen.
Hugs,
Rhonda

If one examines scripture, they will see that the desire to live will climb the insurmountable, I base my health on the grace and kindness of God, and I felt extremely optimistic of Wayne's recovery, you are too good a friend for us not to care, scripture is full of God's blessing in unfinished races of His Kids, thanks for sharing Rhonda, you are much loved, blessings Roy
Typo : it was clear (speach) speech?

Hi Roy,
Thanks for the review, my friend!! You're right about the grace and kindness of God. Wayne was a smoker, and no matter what we did, we couldn't get him out of his addiction. The surgeon told him that the type of stroke he had comes from smoking and that if he goes back to it, he will see him again.
Wayne is mostly healed at this point. He's a bit wobbly and has poor grip in his left hand, but little else.
Besides, a horrible headache behind his right eye, which is the site of the stroke.
I asked him why he thought God healed him of everything, but left the headache.
He told me it was a reminder not to do something stupid again (smoking). I had to agree. So far, so good.
Thanks again,
Rhonda

Yep, two days before I was baptised, God told me to stop drinking, smoking and gambling, and I did, that was forty years ago, my dear dad died at only 67, he smoked almost up to dying, as did my brother at 69. I would be dead now if I hadn't of stopped Rhonda, I smoked for 25 years, share my testimony, smoking's not good, he's got plans for Wayne, blessings, Roy
-
I will certainly share this with Wayne. He's a great man of faith, but this smoking thing has been hard for him. He stopped drinking, swearing and carousing, but now he's finally having to face the smoking demon.
Thanks again,
Rhonda
-
Trouble is they all go together, they are all demons, God shared that later with me, at the time I just stopped, God honours the sacrifice, addiction is a god, let him find that out for himself Rhonda.
-
You know, Roy, you are so right on him having to figure it out on his own. People are asking me if I'm going to make him stop smoking. I explain that's not my job. All I can do is pray, and make passive/aggressive suggestions, lol. Just kidding, he's mentioned he knows God gave him a second chance.
-
Let Him find out, but pray protection of his heart, even Christians have blind spots Rhonda,
-
Very good point!!

Bless you

You sucked me right into the bedside drama and the miracle of surviving a major stroke. Your assessment of the confusing medical terms and what they meant for your future broke my heart. The scene with your husband waking up and fighting made me cheer. Well written. gayla

Hi Gayla,
Thank you so much for your assessment of the actual writing in the chapter. That was very helpful. I was telling a friend on here that I spent as much time on this chapter as I do the fantasy book chapters I write. It started out a simple way to update, next thing I knew, I shifted into re-writer mode, lol.
Take care, and thank you so much,
Rhonda

Thank you for your prayers, Barbara. It was amazing to me to watch the process unfold. Every morning Wayne woke up, there was more he had conquered. We could actually feel the prayers that were going up and it did more than comfort, it energized, it healed.
Keep it up, prayer warriors!! I can witness its effect first hand.
Hugs,
Rhonda

Aw, Rhonda, that is such wonderful news and a miracle really. Wayne may not be as strong as he was before but you will have him back home as a whole person. I'm so happy for you all. A big hug. You're one brave woman. Ulla xxx

Ulla,
Thank you so much for the six stars and for the encouragement! It's been quite the ordeal. I know I recently wrote a chapter on here on my near-death experience and how that played out. I now know what it feels like to be on the other side of that ambulance. You feel helpless and terrified. You think you'll never see that person again, and even if you do, they will never be the same.
Now, that might be true in part, but for the larger part, we didn't just dodge a bullet, we dodged a cannon ball!!
Hugs, my friend,
Rhonda

Oh I so know what you mean. We almost lost our little 3 year old daughter nearly 40 years ago. After it was over with a happy ending, it felt asif I'd been run over by a train.
-
Oh wow!!!! A spouse is bad enough, but a child... that's on a whole new level!!!
-
Rhonda, I think the reactions and the aftermaths will be pretty much the same. It's just frightening.

Good news for sure,my wife and I still pray for you and Wayne. I know that prayer helps, I have seen it work many times in my 77 years. Your true story brings hope for all that are suffering. The 1-42 scale is news to me as well.

Hi Don,
Thank you so very much for the six stars, my friend!! Prayer certainly does help, and it's help is immeasurable and precious!! I still haven't found out what Wayne's score was, but hope to today as we touch base with his Primary Care Physician. I'll let you know.
Take care,
Rhonda

Man, Rhonda, the word miracle is ascribed to many situations, but truly applies in this instance, Both of you keep fighting the good fight, and continued good luck going forward

Hi Mike,
Thank you so much for the six stars!!! I've never seen such a miracle in my life. No one comes back from a massive stoke unscathed. I get it that he still have a few things to work through, but I had a worse time with COVID than he's had with his stroke.
Take care,
Rhonda

Such great news. It truly does sound like a miracle. That fighting part of him is probably a good part of the reason he is coming home as well. prayers for continued healing for him and strength for you.

Hi Marilyn,
Thank you so very much for your kind review! You're right about the fighter inside him. He definitely came out swinging, metaphorically and practically! He never swung at me, though, even at his most out of touch shape.
Take care,
Rhonda
Comment from Debbie D'Arcy
Oh Rhonda, I'm so pleased to read that Wayne's coming home. But, I literally, held my breath all the way through this amazingly vivid and emotional account. This was an horrendous experience for both of you but, arguably, worse for you as you contemplated the worst and hoped beyond hope for the best. It must have been the longest 3 weeks of your life. But he's back with all the energy and force that he needs to overcome this catastrophic event. And he has love and prayers around him to fortify him on his journey. As do you. I wish you love and all the best wishes in the world. Being boringly pedantic, I just have one more thing to say - sur(v)iving:)) Debbie xx

Hi Debi,
Thank you so much for the six stars!! Thank you for the very specific review of the chapter, as well. I need the literary comments along with the wonderful support.
I love the way you introduced the grammar snafu. You are so funny. Someone else found another one of speech/speach. Lol, I actually remember writing the word and thinking, what's wrong with this?? Hehe. I totally missed the suriving one.
Thanks for all you always do, and especially today.
Hugs,
Rhonda
