I'm so sorry for your loss, this poem touched me and broke my heart. Your relationship must have been very special, I believe that she can read your poem and that it touches her heart as well. Thank you for sharing this.

Willie,
Your poem is touching. You put a human face on loss, a very special woman in your life who has died.
Your bittersweet poem shows how much you had together and how much she is missed.
Your exceptional poem has a fluid rhyme and great sentiment.
Good luck,
Blessings,
Cindy

What a beautiful tribute to the love that you shared with your wife - who was obviously your soul mate. The memories of all the good times you shared, walking hand in hand, will be a true source of comfort. However, the pain of your loss will linger - you miss those warm hands and sweet laughter. But putting your feelings onto paper is one way of keeping that love alive and sparkling within you. Thank you for sharing your story.

"I Walk Alone" by Willie P. Smith is a straightforward elegy from a husband whose loss of his spouse is told by examples of the simple joys she brought to their marriage. Although the narrator finds some satisfaction in his strong memories of her, he nonetheless must walk alone.
This poem uses a mixture of iambs and dactyls, ending lines that start more gently with iambs with more affronting dactylic assertions.

Wow. Wow has always been such an underwhelming word I find myself trying to avoid using but this poem has undeniably left me awe struck and having lost someone in my life myself, seeing the way you've painted such scenery with both words and rhymes, rhythms too with such flow, it turns loss into something more. Thanks for sharing. All the best and so much love.

I know what you mean, Willi P, I too now walk alone, but, we are never alone because we still hold our loved ones in our heart. A lovely poem from the heart. I wish you well.

I wanted to wait until midnight to be able to give six stars. I am sorry for you loss. Your words are loving, tender and sad. I am sure having Carol in your heart, she is with you in spirit.
Best wishes

First of all, sorry for your loss, Willie.
Now, this is a well written poem that tells of strong love and relationship.
She must have really loved you to still laugh at jokes you've told many times, most likely.
Keep writing and stay healthy

Willie,
This is an exceptional entry in the Romance contest. A definite winner that has my vote.
What a tender heartfelt tribute to your wife Carol. I can sense the tears falling down your cheeks with every word penned. Each Stanza is perfectly composed and the rhyming flows flawlessly.
You are not alone for Carol walks with you in your heart every single day.
All the best,
Eugene

I'm so sorry Willie, my dear wife is still here with me, so we still share many things together, I don't know how would get by without her, I don't think I would do well without her. This is beautifully written my friend, well done Willie, blessings Roy
