If this was a contest, you surely would have won. This is fun and charming.
Good thing you gave translations. I only recognize one or two. Fox in the hen house would be just that. There it is a cat among the pigeons. I knew Sheila, the rest, I must say are "foreign to me."
Very brilliant and an enjoyable read.
Blessings,
Mary

Thank you for sharing Aussie with us and the explanation in the end helps a lot. It sounds like a foreign language to me. I enjoy reading your poetic take on so many Aussie idioms.
Well done.

Wow! That is some picture and then the idioms of your land!
Well worth a six, Roy. I love the picture. You Aussies' almost speak your own language. I find it precious and interesting. Well done, my friend. Nancy:)

Thank you for compiling this, Roy. I still intend to do a post on southern lingo, but we will see.
I read your post, wondering what in the world. It sure sounded interesting though. Then I reread with your definitions. The only one that I knew was Sheila and that is only because Outback Steak House puts "Sheila" on their bathroom doors.
I really enjoyed this.

I'm laughing at myself because now I understand why I don't exactly follow some of the things my dear Australian friends are trying to explain to me. We are different in so many ways, yet alike in others. I enjoyed your idioms.

Well done on this poem, Roy, acquainting us with some of the idioms from Australia. Some of them I have heard before, but most are new to me. I remember parts of a song we sang in school, something about a billa bong.

I found the work very interesting, creative and good read. Though I was completely ignorant of the slangs, the flow and the pace of the work was quite captivating. Well done, dear Roy, and thanks for the explanatory note.

I loved this. Australian slang is the most creative kind of all. I knew a few of the words already, but I"m glad you showed the meaning. You turned this into a delightful poem. It was fun to read.
