I heard that song on the radio this morning, and here it is again. Funny how that happens. Stevie was wonderful. He truly deserved all those awards.

Sally:
It seems we were doing a lot of the same things about the same time - I am apparently about 4 years older than you.
I cannot think of any poorly received Stevie Wonder song!
I agree with every bit of praise you shared about him.

Hello Sally, that's a great number 'I just Called to Say I Love You' - Stevie_Wonder a great performer despite his blindness - nothing keeps you back if you have the talent and the drive. I loved it when I was young, coming back from the dance when my sister and I used to listen to Top of the Pops. It may be before your time but I was listening to Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Frankie Lane and many more, huddled in a cold room where the heat was still present on the old fireplace which we huddled round - happy days! You brought it all back for me. Keep up the good work. This was well written. Best wishes - love Dorothy xx

Magnificent tribute--heartfelt nostalgic reminiscence--fascinating facts about Wonder's background and accomplishments. Certainly, that song is well known! (Was he born blind?)

Thank you, dear Liz. A wonderful and complimentary review. He was not born blind, but premature. Lack of oxygen in the incubator caused his retinas to detach around six weeks old. :( I have a rare genetic retina disease.
Sending you my best today as always,

I have heard some old shows featuring the Casey Kasem records. It was fun. If only others felt the same as Stevie, the world would be a better place. There would be no need for hate and violence. I'm glad we like the same music. There is something about this particular that makes me just melt into a sweet puddle.

Thank you for giving Stevie a place on your top 50 list. That's one of my favorite songs, too! And I have his greatest hits CD because I think all of his big hits are musically so enjoyable! So glad he gave glory to God!

It's hard to pick favorites when the singer is so fantastic, so I'll just say I LOVE "Fingertips" and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered"! Your piece on Stevie Wonder is excellent in all respects--smoothly put-together, with descriptive, specific details.

I don't have a jukebox, Sally. I haven't listened to music like I used to. It's a shame really for I love music! I had many records, recordings, cassettes, CDs... you name it, I had it. In Spanish and in English. Then, I had too many complaints about loud music. I was losing my hearing. I don't listen to music that often anymore. Now, I have peace. I'm going crazy!!! :) Thanks for the music and for the call.

I'm using the term Jukebox here metaphorically, Jose. Any enjoyment of music even singing is where I am going here. I have a partial photographic memory and I visually see the record and the year, spinning on my record player. The jukebox was fun too, and lived at the corner drug store and a local hamburger stand. I always lingered at it with a dime, (or quarter later on) choosing my favorites. Sending you my best today as always,
Sal XOs...

Thank you so much for honouring Stevie Wonder! This particular song "I just called to say 'I love you'" has been very meaningful to me. We were in Saudi Arabia just prior to the Gulf War, and all the women and children were evacuated. My husband had to remain there to finish his contract - another five months. I remember one night phoning him and putting the radio next to the phone so he could hear this song, from us in Australia. Still brings tears to my eyes! Blessings to you, thank you for this tribute to Stevie Wonder. What a wonderful and humble man.
