It's such a superb title for the story that follows - meaningful friendship fostered between close neighbours over many years - joys shared - and still holds the essence of that experience -thanks for sharing

This is a nice story. I'm sorry that you lost your friend, but delighted that you chose to write about her and also that you are able to smile and remember her when you pass your fence.

Hello Amada,
Your story left me with goosebumps. It is engaging and brims with love and warmth. It's very moving, more-so because it is true.
Having a friend like Lois is like having a living, breathing treasure. You must miss her very much.
Good luck in the contest.
Best wishes, Debra :)

Great poem inspired in life (the one here and the "other one", just to put a name). Physics says that "Energy never dies, but it transforms" and I guess that this principle is applicable to we all humans: all what we have done, felt and experience cannot disappear, but only transforms into another type of energy. Great people's lives changes in nice, powerful thoughts that empower our lives, You reflect this nicely in your writing! Thanks for sharing!! Great choice for the picture!

Brilliant--heartwarming tale, beautifully told--stunning closer is star-worthy in itself--space glows like a celestial hello--endless smile! Clever title--a twist on the usual imagery of fences separating!

It is sad to lose a good friend who we've shared precious memories with. I'm glad what you remember is her smiles. We should all be remember in such a way. One thing about getting older is that we realize this earthly life will end. May be all be remembered with a smile.

I just LOVE this.
I loved that she passed in such
perfect peace.
I love the friendship you shared,
no small thing in this day and age.
I love that the fence is a sweet
reminder of gentler times.
(I'm a Gemini too!)
Good luck,
blessings...

Your story is well written and moving. I like the way it accepts aging and passing as the final steps of life, something to be accepted and not dreaded. Lois's walker was a good metaphor for that. I am so glad you still see her bright smile in the fence. That celestial hello is half a halo, showing through to here in our present world. Thanks for the read.

This is a very poignant and wonderful read. Even though there is sadness in the loss of your neighbor, you brighten it with the ending in remembrance.
Good luck in the contest.

Oh yes indeed, friends that have passed, leaving an indelible Mark that will never wash or fade, and will always be remembered, sometimes not specifically, but always in gratitude for that great gift of companionship. Well done, Amada, blessings Roy
