I knew a teacher's life can be rough, but damn. So this Frost guy is a potential criminal? Also, it seemed like Mr. Edwards was not very interested in the conversation if he left right on the dot the moment he could. Not a fan of him either.

I am looking forward to the continuation of this story, as it is interesting and well-written. The notes at the start are helpful, as are the character descriptions at the end.

Well it seems like Gabriel is starting to break down the emotional barriers. The "click" he heard when they jogged ... Hmmmmm, could it be a camera?

A few things:

Gabriel glanced at this watch. [... glanced at HIS ? watch.]

He chewed his lower lip. [I think I mentioned this before, but I'm not sure. I've noticed, though that you use this, or a variant as a stock phrase when someone is worried or troubled. Nothing major.]

Each teacher studied their schedule. [Does it trouble you as much as it does me to use the plural "they" with the singular "each"? It's becoming acceptable, but I choose to alter one of them. In this case, say "The teachers studied their schedule."]

and wrote the first weeks objectives for each subject [... the first WEEK'S objectives ....]

Tell the coach and Katherine I'll see 'em next Sunday.

Gabe and Katherine will be happy to see you next Sunday. LOL I appreciated the editing assistance. I can't believe I made some of those errors but did and now they're fixed.

Barbara,

Nice job on some backstory and stage-setting in this chapter. I didn't see a single nit! I enjoyed the post and look forward to more action - I'm afraid it's coming....

I always enjoy your stories, with the strong, independent female antagonists, and strong, but sensitive male protagonists. And you always do well the mysterious, but dangerous antagonists. Katherine wonders how she's going to teach 5 classiest, when it reduces back to four. Well done, great post Barbara, blessings Roy

Thank you for the kind review. As an elementary teacher, who teachers all the subjects, I laugh at High School teachers. My son teaches one subject over and over again. He does HAVE To TWEET it for each individual class. Oh my!!!! Thank you.

Yes, my wife was a high school faculty head. Teaching language head, teaching three subjects, my daughter is an elementary teacher.

I'm anxious to find out what the sound is that the dogs here. It's a clicking sound but where is it coming from a where. It sound like classes will be starting soon. Gabriel seems like he is getting pretty interested in the lady math teacher.

Four preparations still sounds like a lot, especially for someone just starting out. So the student population is growing. In the school district where I live, they've lost several students and are thinking of eliminating some elementary schools. I like the added interest with someone other than Frost causing concerns for Katherine. Someone seems to be watching, and has the dogs' attention. Gabriel needs to butt out of Katherine's business. He's getting too involved, and it could cause trouble. Things are difficult enough for a new teacher. His attentions will only fuel the rumors that Frost began. All the preparations for the school year sound so realistic. Great chapter. judi

Hi Barbara, I like the dogs and I like Gabriel. But the dogs have me worried about the sound they keep hearing. What is it? Something or somebody is definitely out there. Now, what's next. Ulla:)))
