I forgot about the word bulbous. I always knew it was a word, but it's not one you hear a lot. I love that you put it in here. Please tell me you're going to put all of these into a book and make it so I can buy it one day. I use my thesaurus all the time. I love that I don't have to start my computer up to look things up. Wait, can I just print these off? Are you okay with that?

Thank you for the excellent review and kind compliments, dear Megan. I encourage you to bookcase this and the first one for easy access. It is copyrighted on FanStory. If it falls into someone else's hands, they could easily copy and paste it as their own. Believe it or not, I've seen copyright infringements all over the internet, even here. Bookcasing something is your best bet and best for me. :)
Sending you my best today as always,

Super job with this chapter, Sally! Thank you for these great tips! My favorite part was your description of your grandfather. He really came alive for me. And I liked your Karl Malden nose comment! Everyone knows his nose!

Thank you for the superb review and generous stars, Helen dear. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I loved "The Streets of San Francisco." I always think of Karl Malden when I think of a bulbous nose! Sending you my best today as always and blessings for the day,

Hello Sal.
This is very well written and explained. Facial descriptors can often set the scene for action to follow. But as you point out, there are so many descriptors that can be used that can reflect the personality or a disposition of the character.
You've touched on so many things and creating a character that it would be good to keep your suggestions in mind. It could certainly add depth to a storyline.
It would be very helpful a writer to consider these during dialogue.
Very well done and thank you.

These are more great ideas to describe characters. Some would be great for Halloween. I can imagine all sorts of beastly and grisly features. Love the music of the night.

The practice session is a great "base-line" for the writer. After your tuteledge we can try again and measure the progress. This is a great approach. something else that occurred to me is to observe fragrances or odors on the character. The reader, if they are a writer, will be encouraged and inspired to keep a list of possibilities for these different parts of the face. ...Done...Thank you, very helpful.

WOW, Sally, what a very well written and thorough write on describing the characters... both internally and externally. That identifying with the reader is so true and very important. Well said. I enjoyed reading it.

Interesting and helpful. Years ago as a student at Long Ridge Writers College, some of this you mentioned sometimes slip away so it is good to remember a few things as you have mentioned.
Thanks Sal. You are a superb writer.

I chuckled when I read about how you used Carl Malden's bulbous, veiny nose. But you help a writer. What a great thought to take real life characters and think about what makes their face unique so you can own it in a story! Just one of many stand out teaching tools that jolt creativity. I hope you know what you have is a gift, and so you can teach it, but to some descriptions and details, and how you make them sing are often natural, but it can be taught to a point.

Remember "The Streets of San Francisco?" I miss that show. Karl was great in that, and despite his bulbous nose, he did a fine job.
I'm honored you enjoyed this, and blessed by the generous stars! If I made you laugh, my work is done here.
