Another great chapter, full of fairies and love and romance in the early morning. As always you put us right there with them through your descriptive writing, well done Tony.

Hi Tony,
The story continues with ease and a real sense of knowing-time, place and past.
I really enjoyed the inclusion of myth and suggestion-do fairies really exist?
The reality of human relationships sits well amongst the unknown.
Blessings
Shirley

Again, I very much appreciate your time reading and reviewing. I gather that fairies, the Persian peris, are very much a part of the culture in the mountainous regions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

You wax poetic with this chapter! Helen is certainly an intriguing and mysterious character and so very beguiling and now also seductive. What has her past been like? She still believes in fairies, but it's no wonder with all that beauty surrounding her.

I continue to read this riveting story and seem unable to get enough of its magic. I know I'm a fool for anything romantic, but this is topped above all else by your brilliant writing.

I wish I had a six. Which is why I'm leaving the next chapter of this story in my inbox until the day after tomorrow, when I hope to have my new sixes and can offer a deserved one of them to your work.

>Our relationship had moved to a new level, one that put a lightness in the step and drove all logic from the mind.< - so true I was reminded of my first weeks and months of falling in love with my husband; I walked around as if I was floating above the ground...

-That is quite an image, Tony.
-One thing that stands out in the
story is the vivid imagery.
-As Helen relates more of her story,
the details make it easy for the
reader to visualize, esp. in the
section about The Kalash Valley."
-Charles has a few good responses:
"I could see myself walking into a trap,
no matter which way I turned."
-I also liked it when Aphrodite was
known as " the patron goddess of prostitutes,"
and Charles thinks, "I was in little doubt there
would be a price to pay for my weakness."
-The story ends well by taking us back
to the whole mystery surrounding Francois
Gaudin and the letter.
-I also want to compliment you on your
effective use of blending research in
so it flows with the fictional part of the story.

Many thanks for this lovely review, Pam, and for the six stars. There was quite a bit of research went into this one as it?s an area I?m not personally familiar with. Always dangerous ground!

You are very welcome and deserving of the review and stars, Tony. I was glad I mentioned the research aspect, as I am sure you have put a lot of work into it. But you are doing an excellent job of weaving it into the fictional account.

Hello Tony,
Your writing in this chapter certainly produced a trance-like ecstatic state.
It is easy to see why they call it Peristan, the land of the fairies.
One can hear "the mellow piping of the golden oriole, poised like a streak of fire among the branches." And the wonderful Markhors deserve guardians.
A nice switch to the Greek goddess Aphrodite.
Much like a Selkie, it seems no moral man can resist the allure of Helen
Are you sure she's not from Troy?
Bright star, an excellent ending.
Well done
Robert

Many thanks for your comments, Robert, and for the extra star. Much appreciated. Perhaps I should introduce a rival for Helen?s affections!

I love the wonderful way you weave in Hindu-Kush mythology and effortlessly turn into Greco-Roman mythology and then you show how the cultures met before historically and in the genetic make up of Helen. Well done and I enjoyed even the pun you made of "star" and "Estelle" at the end of this post.

Cheers, Tony;
>I truly like how you describe the morning when you wrote these words, "A pearlescent pre-dawn blush...
> There are other delightful descriptions of fairylike relativity with Helen's ancestry along with her selective and mysterious touches when Charles let Helen pretty much do what she wanted with him.
>Last paragraphs has me wanting to read the next installment , Now that Alan and Charles are more romantically inclined to have pleasure with their mystery.
> Thank you for sharing this, Tony, and I can't wait the next one.
>Take care and have a good one and blessings to you and your family.

What a description of the Kalash Valley, it truly sounds like a fairyland - and almost believable that Helen descended from the fairies, or perhaps from Aphrodite. Her past, assuming that her stories are true, is intriguing. Charles is falling for her and let's hope this was a good decision! Fascinating, Tony, a great plot and excellent writing.

Such a well written chapter, Tony. All the way through it is well described and even poetic, though prose, especially paragraphs two and seven. Marilyn

Thanks, Marilyn. I'm glad this one worked for you. I've been having to do quite a bit of research recently, at the expense of actually writing, but quite a few ideas are now beginning to coalesce, for use in subsequent chapters. I think that, at this stage, my notes are longer than the novel in progress! All the best, Tony
