Still the mystery of who Suzanne was, continues. A good, cheeky ending to a very enjoyable chapter. Love the dialogue to and fro between this couple, it is very natural and easy to visualize.
cheers,

Oh!!! And after visiting the church too! LOL. I'm afraid I don't have much 'faith' in Catholic priests, many of whom should be 'planted' outside the cemetery borders. The Pope was put through it in Ireland last week. Well, we have another excellent chapter, now we need to find that lady, Mademoiselle Françoise Gaudin, and perhaps the brother? Another wonderful chapter, Tony. :) Sandra xx

It's hard to paint Catholic priests in a favourable light in view of all the recent publicity. I appreciate your kind words!

Very interesting chapter that I have stumbled upon. I enjoyed your writing style and would like to read more if this story. Please keep it coming! I like the humor and the way the characters play off of each other's lines. I could easily envision the story in my mind with your great descriptions.

Hi Tony. I really enjoyed reading this fine post of yours. I was surprised to read prose upon its opening it and not a poem. An interesting turn of events here. Usually denominational cemeteries will only bury people of that parish, so for the lady to be buried there regardless of her circumstances, even in unconsecrated ground, is unusual. This chapter is clear and interesting, well described, contains some humor and good dialogue. Marilyn

Many thanks for these positive comments, Marilyn. This project is a new departure for me. I'm rather enjoying it! Thanks for your comments about burial in denominational cemeteries. I may have to research that part more carefully and make an adjustment. Estelle would have lived in the parish and may have been a Catholic. I suspect that it might have been the conduct of her life that caused her to be buried in unconsecrated ground. Perhaps Helen and Charles will be able to uncover the truth of it!

Hi Tony. It is fun to try something apart from the norm, isn't it? But you've written stories before which have been great. Your writing is always stellar. No worries about the cemetery thing. Who knows how the church handled things back then. Being a parishioner and having been baptized in the faith, I believe, were and are still the guidelines. Marilyn

I'm glad I caught this chapter of your delightful story. I read another chapter previously but if my recollections are correct, then I've missed a few chapters in between since then. Still the story is so well written that I could nevertheless remember it and the protagonists.
Excellent, and I wish you a fab weekend.

I cannot help but wonder where this is going, Tony. I am trying to follow as well as I can but there feels like there are a lot of French names and others to keep track of. Maybe it is because they are in a cemetery and headstones etc.
The dialogue is wonderful and aai liked this a lot:
""Caviar comes from the virgin sturgeon,
The virgin sturgeon is a very fine fish.
The virgin sturgeon needs no urgin',
That's why caviar is a rather rare dish."
I'll keep following, my friend. Bob

Thanks, Bob. Appreciate the review. I hope the cast of characters becomes clearer soon. I realise that it's a bit much to take on board at this stage, but the major ones will be painted more strongly as things progress.

I thought so, Tony. :) Bob

-A good choice of image and
intriguing chapter, Tony.
-The whole scene regarding the cemetery
and trying to locate information is done very well.
-Helen and Charles learn a bit more from
the priest about the Gaudin family.
-The visit to the cemetery is an
interesting one, to say the least.
-There were the comments about
Germain Madec, and Estelle's
burial place with the unusual epitaph.
-Finally, Helen and Charles proceed
to the restaurant where Charles is
in rare form with his poem, and
Helen, with all of her wiles, has
seemingly planned ahead by booking
a room for the two of them for the night.
-You never know what Helen is going
to do next, and Charles seems to be
coming out of his shell.
-I enjoyed the chapter; sorry I
have no 6*s left to award.

Hello Tony,
An excellent chapter to continue the story and mystery of the Gaudins
The portrayal of Father LeCroix is spot on and Charles' comment is perfect.
Though his later "Deanism" about ghouls is a bit suspect.
Excellent believable dialogue.
If they ever make a movie of your story, I wonder who would play Helen?
Whoever it is, I think I'd buy a ticket to see her.
Well done
No sixes left

Yes, I hesitated about the rather corny ghoul in the dead centre, but think I'll leave it there for the moment. Ghoul/girl seems like a good Charles sort of pun! He's got an odd sense of humour.
Helen is beginning to appeal to me more as I get to know her! A film? I'd be happy just to finish the book!

Tony--
Excellent. I still do not know what the quest here is about but it is fun and well done.
Charles and Helen? Are? I missed the origins of this, perhaps because out on our island but then as I said you said you were going to be away a while. So, I don't feel bad about not being up to date, just out of it.
I'll read more, thanks.

Thanks for your interest, Jeff. My first attempt at a novel. An interesting venture that I've been thinking of for a while. I have some idea of where I want to go with it, but not sure yet quite how i'll get there. I appreciate the six stars and your positive comments.
