It's a lovely-looking car. You have obviously looked after it very well. We live out of town and as soon as we're no longer able to drive, we'll have to move. We're not looking forward to having to leave here.

Hey Judy thanks for the review "out of the blue." We miss driving but we are coping. I am on Monthly on and off FS for a while. Thanks very much.

Hi Mate. sorry about that. I fear my das may be numbered too. I turn 81 this year and have no driving issues that I know of, but time will tell.
Just curious, How much trade in or money did you get for that 17 year old car? bless you and your Louise. Bob

Sadly, mate after having spent big bucks only a year or so before we only got $AUD900. It had new tyres, timing chain had been replaced a couple of years previous more recently the tappett cover gasket replaced for $AUD700, and only 130,000km on the clock. Thanks for coming by. Do you have to go for driving tests yearly from now on?
-
No to tests in Michigan. Bob

That's a relief.

Yes. Thanks mate. bob

I'm sorry you are both having to give up driving. I'd be so lost if I had to give up my car. I have bad knees to but not so I can't get in an out of a car. You're too young to have to quit driving. It's a beautiful car.

This is such a well written piece. It's matter of fact and brave. Shows your courageous straightforward personality, Geoff.
I see this is a reposting. If I remember correctly you and your wife have found ways of getting around without your car.
Stay safe during these strange times.
Blessings Julia

Thanks, Julia, sorry if you have seen this before. I wanted to give these a last run before I go in November. I may do the $10 a month thing from time to time. Appreciate your lovely review and yes we have found ways to get around d but we held back some during COVID-19.

Geoff,
Yeah, that has to be hard. Though I spend a lot of time in my house, it's by choice, and because I'm taking care of grandchildren.
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Robyn. Running these through, one more time before I go at the end of the month. I may do the $10 a month thing from time to time.

I know how you feel. I haven't driven since my blindness diagnosis in 2009. I miss it so much. I know how taxing it can be to depend on others to get to where you need to go. Thankfully, my husband and friends serve me unswervingly. I pray for grace during this time. Covid makes being out more difficult. Sending you my best today as always and blessings to you both,

There are things that I, too, cannot be bothered with anymore, so I understand. You had a nice little car. My parents had a station at one time, and I loved it.

It's sad that you can no longer drive, Sankey, but you have both got some amazing memories driving around and all the photos you took as well. You had the world at your feet, and you can still share them together are home. It's hard giving up the independence of being able to jump in the car and drive off.
My best wishes to you both, my friend. Sandra xx

Thanks Sandra, you are right in everything you said. It is now almost 7 years since we went on a holiday. We can't do it anymore for a whole lot of reasons.

Hi there, Sankey
A friend of mine is also disabled and drives a small van which she drives her electric wheelchair straight into... Maybe this would be an idea to look into?
I know that both of you have traveled extensively over th years and it must be quite a wrench to have to stay put, especially there in OZ where there are great distances to cover.
Maybe try a 'Go fund me' for a new runaround?
kind regards

Thanks very much. We have heard of others who very easily got funding from the Government for such a vehicle but we were not fortunate to make it. We now have both given up our licenses as I mentioned elsewhere...well I lost mine on Medical grounds. Thanks for coming by.
