Hope
Can a man sit if there is no chair?
Will a man climb if there is no stair?
Is there justice in a world that's not fair?
Without hope, there is naught but despair.
Faith allows hope to become real to one who needs.
Trees are the rewards for the planting of seeds.
Strength is the evidence of work clearing weeds.
Fulfillment comes from satisfying needs.
Absent of hope, can a man find his way?
How hard will he work with no promise of pay?
How long is the night, as you wait the dawn of day?
Man suffers the darkness when light has gone away.
I will patiently wait for my comfort to arrive.
Hoping and praying for as long as I'm alive.
For the goal of approval, I will constantly strive.
Within the glow of acceptance, I will thrive.

Author Notes
This poem was inspired by a poem written by FanStory member, Jesse James Dolty. Jesse I tank you for the inspiration. The photo is courtesy of Uplash.com photog, Hillie Chan. I truly do believe in the power of hope. Of course the fulfillment of things we hope for can be helped along by some effort on our part. We cannot hope our way into being better writers without putting in the work to become better writers; classes, paying attention to helpful suggestions from fellow writers. All of these things help us to reach the things we hope for.
