Denial
The falling rain of yesterday
caught me off guard again last night.
I felt the tears begin to fall,
and tried to hide them from your sight.
Anger
There’s fury in that falling rain,
that flattens golden fields of wheat.
My garden is its battleground.
with force that’s often indiscreet.
Depression
There’s sadness in the falling rain.
It penetrates right from the start.
A beastly haze of mist and fog
that permeates my mind and heart.
Bargaining
Each rivulet must run its course
and each sad day must decompose.
I found His promise in the rain
that nourishes tomorrow's rose.
Acceptance
Bear witness to the falling rain
as with each drop I’m nourished too.
Its scent brings gratitude and grace.
My winter with a diff’rent view.

Author Notes
Just working through some grief that has plagued me for years. Through the help of God, I have let it go only to have it triggered again by some small event like a falling rain. Having written this poem, I will set it aside, again.
