Our Last Goodbye by Begin Again True Story Flash contest entry |
Your strong hands are withered and cool to the touch. Your lips are chapped and dry. I plead for your devilish blue eyes to open, knowing they won’t. I lay my head on your chest. Each beat of your heart screams, “Remember me.” My tears drench your shirt. I know you must leave. Yet, I beg you to stay. Your lips move. I pretend and answer, “I love you, too.” My heart shatters as I say, “Honey, you can go.” I feel your last breath as I whisper, “Goodbye.”
