100 Word Flash Fiction Contest Entry
The Surprise
by DragonSkulls
I worked all night and was on my way home. I hadn't yet
bought my wife a gift and it was Valentine's Day morning.
Not a card, flowers, candy...nothing. So, I ran into the
grocery store.
Twenty minutes later, I rushed home and cooked her breakfast
before she woke up.
When she came out, she handed me a little gift box. "Happy
Valentine's Day, babe."
I hugged her and said, "Awww, you shouldn't have, sweetie,
because I didn't buy you anything for Valentine's. I spent two
hundred dollars on scratch-off tickets and not a one of them
was a winner."
